For fans of reggae, there is a show coming to Brooklyn this October that you will not want to miss – the iconic, the original, the reggae legends – The Wailers!
It has been over 30 years since the death of Bob Marley and still his iconic band plays on, bringing reggae to people around the world. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this true reggae classic live.
And while you are at it, make it the perfect evening out with dinner at Atlas Steakhouse before the show. We are conveniently located in the Ditmas Park neighborhood, just blocks from the theatre.
Speaking of the theatre, The Wailers Brooklyn show will be hosted at the historic Kings Theatre. Originally opened in 1929, the theater was beautifully restored and reopened in 2015.
It is by far one of Brooklyn’s top performing arts theaters and is known for hosting great concerts and one-of-a-kind performances. It is the perfect venue for The Wailers Brooklyn show.
If you have never seen The Wailers live, you are in for a treat. People often describe the live performance as almost a spiritual experience. It is easy to see why when you consider the close tie between reggae music and Rastafarianism. Combine that with incredible music and a crowd of fans singing along to every word.
The doors at Kings Theatre will open at 7pm on October 2 for the 8 o’clock performance. You can buy tickets directly from the Kings Theatre at – http://www.kingstheatre.com/calendar/the-wailers/
Bob Marley & The Wailers recorded and toured throughout the 1970s and up until 1980. It is said that before his death in 1981, Bob Marley asked the band to continue on and keep the music alive. For the last 30+ years, the band has been doing just that – bringing reggae to fans around the world.
Today, The Wailers is led by original member and legendary bassist Aston “Familyman” Barrett. He is joined by another original member of The Wailers – guitarist Donald Kinsey – for this year’s tour.
The October performance will also include a number of what front man Joshua David Barrett affectionately calls The Wailers 2.0 – an incredible lineup of musicians, many who have close family ties to original members of Bob Marley & The Wailers.
This younger lineup of members includes Aston Barrett Jr., son of Familyman and the nephew of original drummer Carlton “Carly” Barrett – and Shema McGregor, daughter of Judy Mowatt, one of the original I Three backup singers.
Other notable members include bass guitarist Owen “Dreadie” Reid, Andres Lopez on keyboard, front man Joshua Barrett, and sound engineer Christian Cowlin, who has supported The Wailers on tour for over 20 years.
