Dinner and a Show: Romeo and Juliet Ballet at Kings Theatre (Feb 9) & Dinner at Atlas Steakhouse

on January 31, 2020

The tragic love story of Romeo and Juliet is perhaps Shakespeare’s most famous play. You probably know the story but until you have seen it performed on stage, you have not truly experienced this masterpiece.

You are in luck though. This February, Kings Theatre will host a one-time ballet performance of the play by the National Ballet Theatre of Odessa, Ukraine.

We welcome guests to join us at Atlas Steakhouse, after the performance for a classic dinner and a show evening. Read below for more information on the show, how you can purchase tickets, and information on making a reservation at Atlas Steakhouse for dinner.

Kings Theatre

The perfect host for a ballet performance, Kings Theatre is a much loved Brooklyn landmark. Originally opened in 1929, the theatre has welcomed guests in the Ditmas Park neighborhood for generations.

After suffering a number of years of neglect, Kings Theatre was beautifully restored and reopened in 2015. Today it is one of Brooklyn’s top performing arts theaters and hosts one-of-a-kind performances year-round. From ballet to rock concerts, the theatre offers a wide mix of show options. You can see a full schedule of upcoming shows and performances on their website.

Inside the Kings Theatre, you will find classic, ornate detailing straight out of the 1920s. The interior creates a wonderful backdrop for a ballet performance, especially a performance like that of the romantic, but tragic, story of Romeo and Juliet.

Romeo and Juliet Ballet by the National Ballet Theatre of Odessa, Ukraine

The story of Romeo and Juliet remains one of William Shakespeare’s most performed plays over 400 years after it was first published. In the centuries since, the play has been performed with many interpretations - with one of the most moving examples being ballet.

Kings Theatre will host a classic performance of the play by the National Ballet Theatre of Odessa, Ukraine. The ballet will be set to the music of Sergei Prokofiev’s score, originally completed in 1935.

The live ballet will be performed by a full dance company of 55 talented dancers and choreographed by Michael Lavrovsky. During the 2 act show, you can expect gorgeous set designs, costumes, and world-class ballet.

There will be only one performance at Kings Theatre on Sunday, February 9 at 3pm. Tickets can be purchased directly from the Kings Theatre website at - http://www.kingstheatre.com/calendar/romeo-juliet/
