Dinner and a Show: Dinner at Atlas and The Hip Hop Nutcracker at Kings Theatre (Dec 15)

on November 30, 2019

Happy Holidays!

There is something about spending the holidays in NYC that is just extra magical. From the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree to world famous holiday window displays to countless shows and performances, the city has so much to enjoy this month.

The best part is that you don’t even have to go into Manhattan to enjoy some of that holiday magic. Here in Brooklyn, we have plenty of our own holiday festivities.

If you are looking for the perfect festive Brooklyn day, we recommend seeing The Hip Hop Nutcracker at Kings Theatre followed by dinner at Atlas Steakhouse.

Kings Theatre

Located in the Ditmas Park neighborhood, Kings Theatre is an iconic Brooklyn establishment. Originally opened in 1929, the theatre has been a much loved local icon for generations. Once neglected and almost lost, the theatre was beautifully restored and reopened in 2015.

With a classic, elegant design, the Kings Theatre is the perfect place to catch a holiday show. They will be hosting a number of Christmas and holiday events throughout the month of December. These include the Ray DeJon 2nd Annual Holiday Comedy Show, a performance of the Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker, and a Christmas Party special by the group She & Him.

As these performances are a once-per-year event, make sure to check out the theatre’s schedule and book tickets early.

The Hip Hop Nutcracker

If you have to choose just one holiday show to see this year at Kings Theatre, consider The Hip Hop Nutcracker.

This modern interpretation of Tchaikovsky's classic Nutcracker ballet is sure to be fun. Choreographed by Jennifer Weber, the show will be an urban hip-hop dance retelling of the timeless fairy tale.

You can expect incredible hip-hop dancing and excellent music. In addition to the DJ, there will also be a modern violinist and incredible digital scenery to help tell the story. The performance will even feature rap legend Kurtis Blow as the special guest MC.

If break dancing is more your thing than ballet, this is the holiday show for you. There are two performances scheduled for Sunday Dec 15 at 2pm and 6:30pm. Tickets and more information can be found on the Kings Theatre website at - http://www.kingstheatre.com/calendar/hip-hop-nutcracker/

Dinner at Atlas Steakhouse

Dinner and a show is a perfect year-round combination. If you are picking up a ticket to this year’s Hip Hop Nutcracker, why not grab a reservation at Atlas Steakhouse at the same time.

This time of the year is extra special at Atlas Steakhouse. From hosting company holiday parties to intimate family Christmas parties, we love to share this special time of the year with our guests.

With two performances of The Hip Hop Nutcracker, guests can easily join us for dinner either before or after the show. This is a busy time of the year, however, and we highly recommend guests make a reservation. Reservations can be made by calling Atlas Steakhouse at 646-494-7227.

We look forward to serving you and we wish you all the best this holiday season!
